Sustainable Design: Ecodesign, Methods, and Principles

As part of the NODES – Nord-Ovest Digitale e Sostenibile program, the University of Pavia, in collaboration with Etichub, has established a training program consisting of three sessions dedicated to sustainability in the cosmetics sector.

The first session, “Sustainable Design”, held on January 29, 2025, provided a valuable opportunity to explore the topics of ecodesign and sustainability, key elements for the transition of the cosmetics industry. Specifically, the event’s speakers emphasized the importance of sustainable design, supported by an instrumental assessment of environmental impact and the LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) calculation, essential for optimizing product life cycles and reducing their ecological footprint.

The event saw high participation, engaging professionals and students both in person at the Department of Drug Sciences at the University of Pavia and remotely, confirming the growing interest in sustainability within the cosmetics sector.

This meeting marked an important step towards a future where sustainability is not just a goal but a concrete and integrated practice within the product development process. The journey continues with the upcoming sessions of the training program, aiming to inspire and guide the next generations of professionals toward an increasingly responsible cosmetics industry.
